LOCATION WILLIAMSPORT, PENNSYLVANIA
This conceptually designed Continuing Care Retirement Community seeks to not only be housing for seniors but to be an integral part of the urban fabric. This senior living community includes retail for the surrounding neighborhoods, independent living, assisted living, and skilled nursing units.
Site selection was based on access to nearby amenities, close proximity to public transportation, solar orientation, and the fact that this site is an urban infill project.
Regionally resourced materials influenced the color pallet found on the exterior of the buildings buildings. The sloping concave roof slopes were inspired by the surrounding Appalachian Mountains and improve natural ventilation within the spaces, increase the opportunities for natural daylighting through clerestory windows, and are appropriately designed to allow for rainwater harvesting techniques.
